Analysis - pathologies identification
Seu Vella Lleida
Consorci del Turó de la Seu Vella de Lleida | Lleida | February 2013
The main goal of this work was to generate a 3D virtual model which allowed the visualization of the Seu Vella Lleida building, basically from the information obtained by the laser scanner. Using this technique, we capture the information of the architectural elements from the building’s interior in a high resolution 3D survey, with a special focus on the nave and the atrium.
This project was for the Phd of the Doctor Juan Corso. There is an article about his thesis: "Geometric analysis on stone façades with terrestrial laser scanner technology" http://www.mdpi.com/2076-3263/7/4/103

This project was realized combining the technics of TLS and Photogrammetry, achieving a high definition point cloud with a color homogeneity. This new methodology allows to create a better high quality closed 3D Mesh so it can be used in calculation software and sectioned to draw theoretical models to perform structural analysis.

As an example, we have analyzed the structural behavior a segment of one of the side vaults.

This segment of the vault has been simplified as simple geometries to perform a basic structural analysis. As can be seen in the forces diagram, the Result force is inside the central third part of the supporting wall, so the arc can keep standing
