City without barriers. Tool for the evaluation and visualization of accessibility in the public space, based on TLS, GIS and GPS technologies

Within the framework of the project "The house and the city adapted to people with disabilities (technological, urbanistic and / or sociological and co-operative approach)" different applications (web and mobile) have been developed to facilitate the orientation of people with disabilities . The project analyzes the public space in relation to users, in order to characterize it according to their suitability.

Two pilot tests have been carried out, one from an urban case that goes from the Jaume I metro station to the Mercat del Born, passing through Santa Maria del Mar; and the other from a non-urban case such as access to Montjuïc Castle.

The main objective has been to create a mobile application that allows users to facilitate orientation with certain difficulties, whether physical, visual or mental. In order to establish the best routes for each one of the users, an analysis of the public space has been carried out using TLS technology (Terrestrial Laser Scanner).

The surroundings of the two cases of study have been scanned and RANSAC algorithm has classified the land and the urban furniture. Next, the point cloud classified as the ground has been rasterized, in order to establish weights depending on the suitability for each one of the users. Finally, the backlinks have been calculated to reach pre-established points. These backlinks have the baseline information with which the application guides users.
